(9:45.) Now let us look at Framework 2. Your ideas come and go effortlessly, without impediments, with a sense of ease that is taken for granted. Your freedom to think is so transparent and natural that you are scarcely aware of it. That freedom comes from Framework 2, as does the great creativity it makes possible. So in certain terms everyone exists in Framework 2. Many people, however, live out their lives, practically speaking, in Framework 1. Ruburt’s physical condition has been most troublesome to you both, for in that area you have stressed impediments and felt a lack of control. Many people, however, experience such difficulty in all areas of their lives, with nothing in their own experience that they can trust to give them evidence for a greater reality or control over their own destinies.

You can also help by trying to utilize your natural feelings about flexibility on Ruburt’s behalf. This must be done however in Framework 2—in other words, in quiet moments when you recognize when you are dealing at another level, so that you feel no contradiction with Ruburt’s Framework 1 behavior. Such thoughts will be received by Ruburt in Framework 2, and will then, with his present intent, begin to alter Framework 1 through direct action.

He has been trying too hard to some extent in Framework 1, where the spontaneity of motion in Framework 2 will allow for the more or less spontaneous accomplishment of detailed motion in Framework 1. I want to emphasize the importance of the improvements that are taking place in Framework 1. These sessions, however, will result in an acceleration and ease, if the sessions are put to use.

Framework 2 can creatively produce everything I desire to have in Framework 1—my excellent health, painting, and writing, my excellent relationship with Jane, Jane’s own spontaneous and glowing physical flexibility and creativity, the greater and greater sales of all of her books. I knew that all of these positive goals are worked out in Framework 2, regardless of their seeming complexity, and that they can then show themselves in Framework 1. I have the simple, profound faith that everything I desire in life can come to me from the miraculous workings of Framework 2. I do not need to be concerned with details of any kind, knowing that Framework 2 possesses the infinite creative capacity to handle and produce everything I can possibly ask of it. My simple, profound faith in the creative goodness of Framework 2 is all that is necessary.)

FRAMEWORK 2

[...] Framework 2 provides an energy as vital as any given you at birth, and that energy constantly renews the body. [...] Within the framework of physical reality, then, granting the necessity for death, the body has renewing qualities that come to it from Framework 2. The cells of your body are immersed in Framework 2’s reality. [...]

[...] It was as real in Framework 2 as a dish or an apple. [...] Ruburt’s dream had motion also, rolling, say, off the edge of Framework 2 into Framework 1, where lo and behold it changes its form and becomes a book.

The spontaneous self, the creative self, is also immersed in Framework 2, and the creative conscious mind springs from there also, even though its focus must of necessity be in Framework 1’s world of space and time.

We will call your working framework, Framework 1 for purposes of discussion, and this higher framework, Framework 2. In Framework 1, time must be allowed for the body to respond, physical time. In Framework 2, and in the terms of Framework 1’s understanding, such body work is not really necessary, since the body itself has nothing wrong with it except the application of beliefs.

In that framework the rules are different. In that framework the truth is that Ruburt can indeed walk normally now, and that nothing prevents it except for the belief that it is not so. Now I would like the truth of this higher framework at least to affect the framework in which you are now operating in this other framework, and I will have to use your points of reference (with almost a laugh.)

The whole idea of the release of muscles, joints, the physical procedure, involves necessary methods and procedures while you are operating in Framework 1, and there you always are looking for the necessary quite vital evidence of improvement. [...] In Framework 2, there is nothing wrong with the body, again. [...] In that framework you deal with mental patterns, beliefs, and emotions. [...] There, you are so confident of the truth that your beliefs form reality that you need not check the body at every point to see how it is reacting, for you know it will respond as completely to the new suggestions as it did to the old, even though you recognize that practically speaking some time might be involved in Framework 2’s time.

Now: When you concentrate mainly (underlined) in Framework 1 and its communications with Prentice, then while overall you do achieve results of a beneficial nature—the publication and distribution of the books in a largely adequate form—there are glaring discrepancies also: entanglements that you do not like because you have taken your intent from Framework 2, where the creative event began, and placed it into Framework 1’s communication system almost entirely. Obviously you need Framework 1, with its letters, telephone calls, and so forth—but Framework 1’s communication system, while physically handy, also is somewhat like a very poor telephone connection, with static at both ends. [...]

(9:38.) First of all, you clear your wires by trying to clear your mind, and simply by trying to understand how Framework 2 works. [...] All of those other people are connected to that event in Framework 2 on a nonphysical level, as they are connected on a physical level. Framework 2’s communication system is at once simpler and more complex that Framework 1’s. Just as, say, your intent to paint a picture automatically has your fingers all moving in the proper directions, and your body manipulating properly, so that the desired painting results, so in a larger fashion your clear intent is communicated to each of the people involved—at a level without static—yours or theirs. [...]

[...] In dealing with Frameworks 1 and 2 alone, I have been simplifying, and those frameworks in a way represent (underlined) dimensions of events. [...] Often I do need analogies, for to me that simultaneous, creative, cooperative nature of events exists with a sublime simplicity—a simplicity I am afraid that of necessity becomes complex as I try to describe it in terms that will make sense in your space-time framework. [...]

[...] It seems to Ruburt that the firewalker must have an instant rapport with Framework 2, that Ruburt does not possess. Ruburt is in fact in constant rapport with Framework 2 when he is writing or psychically involved, and often he has contacts with other frameworks also.

[...] After the show, Jane wondered about Framework 2 immediately responding to the efforts shown by some of the gifted people on the show—those doing the firewalking, moving objects, fogging film, etc. The results were obtained without delay, evidently from Framework 2. Of course, Jane wanted these results for herself, also. [...]

[...] (Long pause.) The fact is that the processes necessary to the desired end are instantly put into action in Framework 2. There is immediate response in Framework 1, though it may not be apparent because the conscious mind is not always equipped to recognize significances that are outside its usual context.

3. Although this is the first session for Mass Events in which Seth had discussed Framework 1 and Framework 2, at the moment Jane and I are a good deal more familiar with his ideas concerning those fields of action than the reader is; see the opening notes for the last (814th) session. Since introducing them in the deleted, or nonbook session for September 17, Seth has at least mentioned the two frameworks in 17 of the 23 deleted sessions he’s given us since then.

[...] We will use some distinctions here, and so I am going to introduce the terms “Framework 1” and “Framework 2,” to make my discussion clear.

[...] That is why your suggestions of today are so vital, stating that you do have faith that Ruburt’s condition is now in the process of being healed in Framework 2, and that the results will show in Framework 1. It is important that you realize that the healing is now taking place in Framework 2 whether or not you see immediate results in any given day or not. [...]

[...] Lately I’ve been suggesting to Jane that when she finds herself hassling something she reminds herself that she has “a simple, profound faith that whatever needs to be done for an improvement in my health can take place in Framework 2. There are no impediments in Framework 2. Its creative workings there can show themselves in Framework 1, in my improved physical condition. [...]

(In recent days we’ve had several conversations about Frameworks 1 and 2, and these have apparently begun to show results. I think the suggestions about the two frameworks that we’ve worked out are very close to the suggestions that Seth implied we should use in the hypnosis experiments.

Since the nature of Framework 1 constantly flows into it from Framework 2, then Framework 2 is responsible for the shapes, forms, the behavior, the potentials of nature as you know it. When you are working with Framework 2 you are indeed working with nature in the most basic way. [...]

[...] Some people throughout their lives merge the two Frameworks unconsciously in a childlike manner. Others begin early to concentrate in Framework 1, so that Framework 2 goes more and more out of focus. Because you are natural, however, your existence is couched in Framework 2, and to some extent you are even saved at times from your own beliefs because additional insights or solutions are directly inserted into your mind in the dream state, or in other moments of the day.

Nature’s source, in the terms in which we have been speaking, comes from Framework 2. There, all of nature’s true potentials lie ready to be actualized according to the circumstances and conditions, the needs and desires, of the natural creature in Framework 1. The true potentials of nature are hardly suspected in most areas.

You share Framework 1 activity with others, for that world largely surrounds you, but remember, I am speaking in analogies to make certain points, for every person’s life has its Framework-2 orientations. Your creative endeavors have brought you good rewards (long pause) in more areas than you realize, but part of your account was in an ordinary savings structure so that you were, in those areas, somewhat restricted—and restricted by Framework 1’s largely trial-and-error framework. [...]

Now: How do you get what you want out of Framework 2? [...] You give yourselves, say, six months, and you promise not to withdraw the issue from Framework 2’s account in the meantime. [...] You withdraw the account by trying to exert more effort in Framework 1, instead of letting the account take care of itself.

Now we will call the ordinary savings account the usual rewards of Framework 1, for an analogy, of course. I must remind you again, however, that in the overall your activities are not all confined to that framework because of your creative interests and your personalities. [...]

[...] It is natural enough in stressful situations to fluctuate, so that when you have been largely in a Framework 1 reference, I often give you advice geared to it, while allowing you avenues out of it into Framework 2. The morning suggestions are Framework 2 openers, so to speak.

I want you to keep Framework 2 in your minds—for that reminder alone can help you understand that your needs are being met in Framework 2, and the physical results will indeed appear. If you do not believe that, then you must deal alone with the set of Framework 1 facts. [...]

I remind you often of the behavior of muscles, and so forth, so that you will not be suddenly upset when Ruburt has bad days, or discomfort, because I realize that that has been largely your framework of reference, and it is of no benefit for me to ignore your beliefs in that matter—and what I have said applies. You are dealing with—in a way, now—two separate sets of “facts,” and each work, so when you insist upon emphasizing the facts of Framework 1, then there is apt to be soreness as muscles readjust, uncomfortable periods, and rules that must be followed, like walking every hour, or walking at least once a day or face feelings of hopelessness, or whatever.

Framework 1, to some extent or another, however, is always influenced by Framework 2. There, the same correlations do not apply between the effort expended and the work performed, or the time required for such procedures. Very little effort, there, comparatively speaking, has an effect here in Framework 1—that is, a small amount of effort in Framework 2 can result in extraordinary work done in Framework 2, and with a foreshortened time effect.

In Framework 2 the mind affects the physical brain in a more complete and effective manner than usual, and can spark images, thoughts, or correlations that exist in a context outside of the time that is happening in Framework 1. Time happens at a certain regulated rate, then, obviously, in Framework 1. A certain amount of time is needed there to do a certain amount of work, and according to scientific dictates a specific amount of effort is required to perform different kinds of work.

A good deal of the time he has been writing well, operating in Framework 2. Whenever you operate in Framework 2 in any area, to some extent you enrich other areas of your life. [...]

[...] In Framework 2, as mentioned, existence is also organized in a completely different fashion than you are used to. In that Framework, the best possible overall conditions for growth are available. [...] In Framework 2, therefore, the nature of each individual actively seeks out its own greatest potential, in the world of Framework 1, practically speaking, in the world where time and space are realities.

I hope to go into the ways in which computations are made in Framework 2, and how they interact with your world. The body of course exists in Framework 2 also, or it could not exist in Framework 1 at all. You are in constant touch with Framework 2, then. [...]

Ruburt was correct: your spontaneous creative self dwells in Framework 2. There, your nature is intimately known, with all of its unique characteristics and capabilities. There, automatically, computations are made so that you will meet, in Framework 1, with the necessary opportunities, situations, or whatever it is that your circumstances require.

It is, therefore, quite to everyone’s advantage that Framework 2 is not neutral. Faith in a creative, fulfilling, desired end, sustained faith, literally draws from Framework 2 all of the necessary ingredients, all of the elements however staggering in number, arranges all the details, and then inserts into Framework 1 the impulses, dreams, chance meetings, motivations, or whatever is necessary so that the desired end then falls into place as a completed pattern.

[...] In spite of his own conscious lack of knowledge, he was brought to operate according to the information available in Framework 2, though he was not aware of it. [...] The lives and events of all those involved with his trip—the neighbors, the children, and so forth—all of those issues were arranged in Framework 2, so that while the events seemed most unpleasant, they were highly beneficial.

True spontaneity however comes directly from Framework 2, and behind it are endless patterns of orderliness and complexity that are beyond your conscious Framework 1 comprehension. [...]

(At lunch today I suggested to Jane that she put together a short book on the Frameworks 1 and 2 material Seth has given us since he introduced that concept in a private session last September 17, 1977. We’ve had 31 private or nonbook sessions since then, and a number of them contain information on Frameworks 1 and 2 — much of it relevant to that presented in Mass Events. [...]

Your Framework 1 life is, again, based on the idea that you have only so much energy, that you will wear out, and that a certain expenditure of energy will produce a given amount of work — in other words, that applied effort of a certain kind will produce the best results. [...] In the light of such thinking, Framework 2 would be an impossibility.

The greater life of each creature exists in that framework that “originally” gave it birth, and in a greater manner of speaking each creature, regardless of its age, is indeed being constantly reborn. I am couching all of this in terms of your world’s known reality, which means that I am dealing with the local properties of Framework 2 as they have impact in your experience.

So far, I have been speaking of Frameworks 1 and 2 separately, and I will continue to do so for your convenience and understanding. Actually the two merge, of course, for your Framework 1 existence is immersed in Framework 2. Again, your body itself is constantly replenished in Framework 1 because of its simultaneous reality in Framework 2. Framework 2 is ever exteriorizing itself, appearing in your experience as Framework 1. You concentrate so thoroughly upon exterior reality, however, that you often ignore the quite apparent deeper sources of your own physical existence. [...]

The origin of your universe is nonphysical, and each event, however grand or minute, has its birth in the Framework 2 environment. Your physical universe arose from that inner framework, then, and continues to do so.

All of those characteristics have their sources in Framework 2, for the psychological medium in Framework 2 is automatically conducive to creativity. [...]

I am speaking of that framework now only as it applies to your world — not in its relationship to other realities. Earlier in his own experience Ruburt described that framework (in Psychic Politics) as the heroic dimension. He saw quite correctly that there was a great give-and-take between the two frameworks — your regular working one, Framework 1, and this other more comprehensive reality. [...]

[...] You have, in other words, a portion of yourself that is fully conscious in Framework 2. The ego in your ordinary world, which again we will call Framework 1, is uniquely equipped to deal with that environment. [...]

[...] Your inner egos populate Framework 2, and deal with the actual creation of those events that are then objectified. Since “the rules” of Framework 2 are different, that reality is not at all bound by your physical assumptions. [...]

[...] The action of the inner ego within the wider sphere of Framework 2 explains many events and seeming coincidences that otherwise seem to make no sense within your world. Many realities within Framework 2 cannot suitably be explained as facts to you in Framework 1, simply because they involve psychological thicknesses that cannot be translated into facts as you think of them. These often appear in the symbolic language of the arts instead, and many of your dreams are translations in which the events of Framework 2 appear in symbolic form.

[...] Reality as Framework 2 is organized in a different fashion than it is in the Framework 1 world, and the processes of reasoning are far quicker. In Framework 1 the reasoning processes work largely by deduction, and they must constantly check their own results against the seemingly concrete experience of physical events. [...]

Frameworks 1 and 2 obviously represent not only different kinds of reality in normal terms, but two different kinds of consciousness. To make this discussion as simple as possible for now, at least, think of these two frameworks or states of consciousness as being connected by “undifferentiated areas” in which sleep, dreaming, and certain trance states have their activity. [...]

[...] The young lady wanted to see the both of you vividly enough so that that desire, with no effort on her part, was a reality in Framework 2. Miss Dineen likes people, and would be quite lonely were it not for the desire to meet with and enjoy other people. [...] Otherwise she is a rather solitary person—but her desire for such encounters exists with no effort on her part in Framework 2.

I am trying to give you different kinds of examples, showing how work is practically done in Framework 2, that then appears in Framework 1 as physical events.

[...] If however you understand what I am saying about Frameworks 1 and 2, then you can express and release that desire fully and without fear, knowing that the meanings or the details—the way—will be found in Framework 2 to bring about the desired results.

With that understood, my material comes from beyond Framework 2. Creative material in general, however, has its origin in Framework 2, and when it is perceived in Framework 1, to some extent or another it connects the perceiver to that other source. [...]

[...] In Framework 1 his recovery is coming along, and yet the ease and quickness of that recovery, again—and again—could be increased, and should be, by greater activity in Framework 2. Once that is begun it accelerates.

If you think of Ruburt’s normal flexibility as a creative endeavor, then automatically and easily, Ruburt first of all, and you, will find your creative abilities coming to the fore in that direction, bringing about results that are far quicker, easier, and executed in such a manner that Framework 2 adds immeasurably to that area of your lives.
